Mark calendars now for the twenty-fifth TMACOG Transportation Summit, Friday, March 29 at the Premier Banquet Hall, 4480 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo.

The Transportation Summit is an annual review of regional transportation issues. It looks at the current and near future state of highway, road, air, and water transport in the region and also looks ahead to see what is coming down the road. The Summit includes a progress report on transportation projects in the region.

Roadway Safety Projects

Jurisdictions in ODOT District 2 (eight northwest Ohio counties) that have identified unsafe roadway sections or intersections can apply twice a year to the Highway Safety Improvement Program for funding. For the round of applications completed in September 2018, ODOT District 2 applied for 10 projects (more than they ever applied for before). Water Quality

Stormwater Workshops and Test Preparation

Regulations regarding how construction sites need to manage stormwater issues both during and after construction have been updated. TMACOG’s Stormwater Coalition is partnering with the Home Builders Association to present a free learning workshop in January followed by test preparation and certification in early February. These workshops will be valuable for anyone whose job requires them to inspect a work site or work plans, and for those contractors who are doing the work on residential construction sites.

HBA Test Preparation and Test for CESSWI
Please note that attendees must be qualified to take the test prep and the exam. Because of processing time, you should register for the exam by January 18. The last date for registration for the test preparation course is February 1. For more information please visit

Advisory Group Working to Improve Watershed Plan Process

Municipalities and other groups in the TMACOG region have created many watershed plans that have been reviewed and approved by the Ohio EPA. But the plans are not always well coordinated with each other and revising plans can be complicated. Up-to-date plans are valuable because they maintain progress toward regional goals and also make projects more competitive in grant applications. TMACOG Meeting with Members
TMACOG’s Director of Membership and Outreach, Gilda Mitchell, spent a lot of the last quarter of 2018 learning about member priorities in a series of visits. She has been talking with governmental members and non-governmental members including private industry and trade groups.
