2035 Plan Update Progress Begins
TMACOG’s current long range transportation plan is due for its first review.
TMACOG is required to create and maintain a transportation plan that looks forward at least 20 years. The most recent long range plan is “On the Move: 2007-2035 Transportation Plan,” which was completed in 2007. In 2010, TMACOG will do a complete review which will include public input sessions. The review will look at needs that might have changed since the plan was finalized. For example, the CSX National Gateway hub in North Baltimore has been in construction since 2008 and it’s likely that this large infrastructure project will lead to increased truck traffic. To accommodate traffic, plans for highways in Wood County may be modified to include grade separations, improved bridges, or highway widening.
The 2035 Plan update process is already underway. In 2009 the Transportation Planning Committee reviewed the plan’s goals and objectives and began to collect input from local governments on demographics. In winter and spring of 2010, the committee will prepare map and data updates and hold initial public meetings. The 2011 Update is due to go to ODOT and the Federal Highway Administration in spring of 2011.
