TMACOG 2010 General Assembly
Building our Own Bootstraps: How to Grow the Regional Economy”

Nobody anywhere has a lot of extra money these days. We can’t look to outside investors to improve our economy – we need to do it ourselves. Workshops and keynote presentations at the 2010 General Assembly will look at how to use our own resources in partnership to attract, create, and sustain businesses in our region.

The annual General Assembly of TMACOG members will be Tuesday, January 26, 1:30 – 7:45 p.m. at the Holiday Inn French Quarter in Perrysburg. Registration is online. Cost for members is $50, non-members $100. For more information, contact Greg Gettum at 419.241.9155 ext. 132 or gettum@tmacog.org.

Growing our Own: Nurturing Entrepreneurship
  A majority of employed people in the United States work for or run small businesses. In this workshop, a panel of speakers will describe small business resources available from regional economic development agencies and loans and other assistance available from state agencies.
It Takes a Village (and Township and City) to Raise an Industry
  Elected officials can’t create new businesses but they do have a role in attracting and supporting them. Speakers will talk about regional success stories and how marketing and zoning can be tools.

Ohio and Michigan share the same economic challenges and the same commitment to rebuilding a new economy. In this presentation, the speakers will talk about using our own resources to create and sustain businesses.
