Complete Update of 208 Plan is Underway
TMACOG maintains the Areawide Water Quality Management Plan for Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wood counties in Ohio and Bedford, Erie, and Whiteford townships of Monroe County Michigan. The plan, called the 208 Plan from that section of the Clean Water Act, is an agreement between local governments about how we will meet requirements for wastewater collection and treatment. In October, three county-wide meetings were held to review the current status and to outline infrastructure improvements that are needed. Over the winter, TMACOG will be making revisions to the plan as needed and working with all the individual sewerage facility planning areas to update the plan. The complete, current plan is on the TMACOG website here.
An accurate, updated plan that is relevant to community needs is important because the director of the Ohio EPA is required to deny permits that conflict with the 208 Plan. TMACOG also uses the 208 Plan to support sewerage funding requests from jurisdictions.
