Ohio Freight News: Heavy Load Permit
Agricultural interests and manufacturers in Ohio can now apply for new heavy load permits to move filled, sealed international shipping containers that are bound for international export. Growers and other groups can submit their route and, when the route is approved, move loads of up to 94,000 pounds. The permit increases the allowed weight from 80,000 pounds

The initiative was pressed by the Ohio AgriBusiness Association and is intended to help growers ship agricultural products, particularly corn and soybeans, via container. States adjacent to Ohio already had the higher weight allowances and the new permit puts Ohio exporters in a more competitive position. TMACOG and Lucas County supported the rule change.
