Wolf Creek Public Meeting

About 50 interested neighbors attended a November public meeting at the Maumee Bay State Park Lodge to learn more about the Wolf Creek/Berger Ditch Restoration Plan. People at the meeting heard from the partners in the project and were able to review presentations and ask questions. Partners in the plan and the presentation include the City of Oregon, University of Toledo Lake Erie Center, and Ohio Department of Natural Resources as well as TMACOG. The plan is designed to address bacteria in the stream which has led to posting at Lake Erie beaches at Maumee Bay State Park. Over the past decade, many steps have been taken to reduce the amount of bacteria entering the stream. The City of Oregon extended sewer lines and the health department has inspected home septic systems. These efforts have helped reduce bacterial contamination. The planned system of ponds and wetlands would further help by capturing and treating the remaining bacteria. To see the Wolf Creek/Berger Ditch Restoration Plan, click here.
