Input Sought on Freight Rail Future
There has been a lot of activity this year involving passenger rail. But passenger trains will share rails with freight trains and the two systems need to be coordinated. As a result, the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) and ODOT are preparing a state-wide plan for passenger and freight rail. They have hired Wilbur Smith Associates to incorporate visions, issues, and strategies for the two types of rail service. At the January meeting of the TMACOG Freight Committee, Suzann Rhodes from Wilbur Smith will give a presentation of a preliminary plan and will ask for comments and suggestions from freight interests in our region. There is a survey on the TMACOG website. Interested people are invited to print the survey and mail it to the address provided, or bring it to the Freight Committee meeting. The meeting is Wednesday, January 27 at 11 a.m. at TMACOG. Like all TMACOG meetings, the Freight Committee meeting is open to the public.
