Construction of TARPS Facility
Construction crews are making an impact at the site of TARTA’s new paratransit facility adjacent to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. In just a few weeks crews have removed trees and debris, excavated for a foundation, and brought in building equipment. When complete in 2011, the $9 million building will house offices and maintenance facilities for TARTA’s paratransit operations. The building will incorporate a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar panels, skylights, reflective roofing, and earth sheltering for energy efficiency. Future plans call for a biodiesel fueling station for public vehicles.
On July 1, the site of the future TARPS facility, adjacent to TMACOG and Amtrak offices at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza.
On August 10, construction is well underway at the plaza south of downtown Toledo.
