Next Steps for the Westside Corridor
Now that a group of regional partners have completed the purchase of the Westside Corridor and preserved the land for public use, the next steps toward building a multi-use trail are underway. At the end of November, members were selected to serve on a new Westside Coordinating Committee facilitated by TMACOG. The committee will include representatives from all the partners who own the property and will be responsible for operation and maintenance: the City of Toledo, the University of Toledo, Metroparks of the Toledo Area, the Wood County Park District, and the Wood County Port Authority. The group will begin preparing a general plan for the development, construction and improvement of the former rail property. One of the first tasks is developing a process for public involvement.
All TMACOG meetings are open to the public and meetings are posted on the TMACOG calendar on www.tmacog.org.
