What's in SB5?

Elected officials, public administrators, and public employees all have a stake in Ohio Senate Bill 5. TMACOG has invited attorneys from the law firm Spengler Nathanson to make a presentation about the ramifications of the bill Friday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the TMACOG office, 300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

As written, SB5 would limit collective bargaining rights for public employees including teachers, police officers, and fire fighters. It would also change the way that contract disputes are resolved and ban strikes. A referendum on the bill is expected.

The presenters from Spengler Nathanson are Cheryl F. Wolff and B. Gary McBride. Ms. Wolff chairs the firm’s Labor, Education and Public Law Service Group. Her practice involves representation of public and private sector management in all types of employment matters, as well as representation of public school districts in all aspects of education law. Mr. McBride represents school districts, political subdivisions and business clients in labor negotiations and labor relations and school districts in all areas of education law including special education.

Register here by May 2. Cost for TMACOG members is $10, non-members $25.
