Train Day Toledo Volunteers
Toledo’s Amtrak station is bracing for thousands of visitors for this year’s Train Day celebration and TMACOG is asking for volunteers to help. Train Day Toledo is Saturday, May 5, 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Amtrak station near downtown Toledo. To become a volunteer, contact Jodi Rayburg at 419.241.9155 ext. 120. Volunteers will work two- to four-hour shifts, greeting visitors, providing directions, and helping with parking. Each volunteer gets a 2012 Train Day t-shirt.
“Train Day has grown every year since it began in 2008,” said TMACOG’s Diane Reamer-Evans. “And with the special feature this year of Amtrak’s 40 th Anniversary Exhibit Train, we expect to set another attendance record.” The Amtrak Exhibit Train is a rolling museum chronicling Amtrak’s four decades as the U.S. coast to coast passenger train system. Visitors will be invited to tour the train which will be at the Amtrak station. Other features of Train Day Toledo include huge operating model train layouts inside the Grand Lobby, music, rides, food vendors, art and history displays, raffles for Amtrak tickets, door prizes, and more. Returning this year is Engineer Steve, a Norfolk Southern railroader who presents an entertaining program teaching adults and children about safety on the rails. Admission and parking are free. Extra parking will be available at Owens Corning headquarters nearby. A shuttle will run between the station and Owens Corning.
Train Day is made possible through the support of many partners and volunteers.
