Toledo Trucking Association
The Toledo Trucking Association (TTA) was formed more than 50 years ago to represent the interests of trucking firms and associated suppliers. The group has a long established reputation for promoting safety, representing their industry, and supporting their members. As one strategy to promote the freight and logistics industry, the TTA established a college scholarship program. Since 2008, the group has awarded an annual scholarship to a college junior or senior working on a degree in supply chain management, transportation logistics, or another field directly related to trucking.
TTA works to ensure that the industry has a voice in legislation and regulation that affect their business. Members also work closely with police officials and transportation planners. At TMACOG, the TTA is a valued partner, contributing to the Transportation Summit, participating in the Ohio Conference on Freight, and serving on various TMACOG committees.
Partnership is a two-way street. Sandra K. Moore, of Northern Steel Transport and current president of the TTA, explains the value of participation. “As with being a member of most organizations and associations, there are no benefits to just having your name listed on the roster. You see the true benefits of TMACOG when you are an active participant.” She notes that TTA members also learn from other TMACOG members. “It has been educational for me to hear the concerns of a wide range of industries in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan on the topic of transportation of goods and people.”
In addition to their work with TMACOG, members participate in the activities of area Chambers of Commerce, the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, ODOT, the Ohio Trucking Association, and the American Trucking Association.
