Seeking Portage River Partners

TMACOG is inviting new partners to join the Portage River Basin Council. Since the Council was formed in 1994, TMACOG has worked with local communities on many river projects. Projects have included river clear cleanups, educational programs, a hydrologic study, grants for agricultural best management practices and upgrading septic systems, and most recently, completion of a watershed plan.

As we look forward to working with the new watershed plan, TMACOG has approved new operating procedures for the council. We invite TMACOG member jurisdictions in the watershed to appoint a representative to the Portage River Basin Council.

The council has three scheduled meetings during the year. Meetings will be held in Ottawa or Wood County. To make your appointment, we ask for a short letter, signed, on your jurisdiction’s stationery requesting that TMACOG appoint your representative to the Portage River Basin Council. Please mail to TMACOG or e-mail the letter to Kurt Erichsen, P.E., vice president of Environmental Planning. Nomination letters are due by January 20.

For more information, including a link to the watershed plan, please see http://www.tmacog.org/prbc.htm. Please feel free to contact Kurt Erichsen with any questions at 419-241-9155 extension 126.
