Apply for Clean Ohio Funds by November
Communities in Lucas County are invited to apply for grants to preserve open space. The Clean Ohio Fund has allocated $1,267,184 for nonprofit organizations to preserve wetlands, parkland, or other open spaces. Applicants must provide a minimum 25 percent in local matching funds. Applications must be submitted to TMACOG by 5 p.m. November 13, 2012.

Nominations Sought for NRAC Committee
The local committee that evaluates applications and allocates grants from the Clean Ohio Fund is the Lucas County Natural Resources Assistance Council (NRAC). NRAC is currently seeking nominations to fill five vacancies on the 11-member committee. Members serve three-year terms. NRAC service is voluntary, without financial compensation.
To be a candidate for the NRAC committee, an applicant must be appointed by one of the following types of organizations:
- Local government
- Conservation or environmental organization
- Municipal park system or park district
- Business, realty, planning agency, or port authority
- Statewide organization representing agriculture or forestry
- Soil and Water Conservation District
Of the five positions currently open for nominations, at least one must represent a park system, and at least one represent the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District. The other three positions may be from any of the above categories. Applicants should submit the completed nomination form and accompanying documentation by 5 p.m. on September 4, 2012.
