Northwest Ohio Logistics Roundtable
The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority recently organized a logistics roundtable initiative to define and discuss critical regional issues surrounding supply chains. TMACOG facilitated the meeting which was held at the agency’s office on May 23. Leaders from public and private sectors attended. They considered key questions:
- Are the transportation assets of this region sufficient to support current and future business growth?
- What are the key drivers of mode and route choice and how does this region fit into decisions about freight movements?
- How can we retain existing companies, encourage expansion, and attract new investment in the transportation field?
Discussion revolved around the partnership between public and private entities. While private industry decides where to build or expand, the public sector plans for and maintains much of the infrastructure on which the private sector depends. Development agencies often bridge between public and private sectors.
People at the roundtable were invited to continue to work together through involvement in the Regional Growth Partnership, attending the annual Ohio Conference on Freight, and participating in TMACOG’s freight committee.
