TMACOG has been working with members and partners to present a series of informational sessions about managing water utilities. The TMACOG Tech session on Wednesday, June 20, is on the same topic, but specifically directed toward elected officials and those working with policy issues in their communities.
Water is Life: Sustaining Water and Sewer Infrastructure
June 20, 2-3:30 p.m.
at TMACOG offices, 300 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive
This program will explain the need for reliable, sustainable funding for water and wastewater infrastructure, and explain how to engage the public in the discussion of how to pay for these vital services. For generations, we have taken for granted that clean, safe water is at the end of every faucet. Now, the water system is aging and local elected officials are challenged to maintain and extend critical water systems. Residents and businesses that rely on the water system need to understand that clean water is critical to public health, our economy, our environment, and our quality of life.
- “Water is Life” presentation with Steve Wordelman, Jones & Henry Engineers
- “The Importance of Fiscal Planning for Water Systems” with Holly Kaloz, Ohio EPA
- Panel discussion addressing rate setting and fiscal management for different types of communities. Moderator: Steve Wordelman, with Greg Stewart, City of Luna Pier; John Quinn, City of Bowling Green; Jim Sass, Ottawa County; and Jerry Greiner, Northwestern Water and Sewer District
