TARPS: Welcome Neighbor

Neighbors and guests visited the brand new facility housing the Toledo Area Regional Paratransit System (TARPS) at a grand opening on February 27. The new building is adjacent to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza which houses TMACOG and Amtrak. TARPS ridership has more than doubled in the past three years.

Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur; Therese McMillan, deputy administrator of the Federal Transit Administration; TARTA General Manager Jim Gee; and Bonita Johnson, president of the board of directors of TARTA, unveil a plaque at the grand opening ceremony.

Guests at the open house included elected officials and people who depend on the TARPS buses for regular transportation.

The new TARPS facility is built into a slight hill on the site of the old Page Dairy. From the street it appears to be a one-story facility. The facility can service, wash, fuel, and store 104 of the smaller TARPS buses.
