Bicycles are Good for You and Good
for Public Health

Technology has made it possible for men and women, and even children, to go through an entire day and attain virtually no physical activity. Now, because of computers, office work is mostly sedentary and while housework is still a lot of work, we have many more household machines. And leisure time has also changed for both children and adults. Video games and watching TV have displaced running around the neighborhood or taking an evening walk...more

Biggest Week in Birding, May 4-13
Warblers and waterbirds mass every spring on the shores of Lake Erie as they pause before flying over the lake to their summer habitat. This behavior leads to world-famous bird watching opportunities along the southwest coast of the lake. The Black Swamp Bird Observatory welcomes birdwatchers with an extra-long week of activities and trips that they call the Biggest Week in Birding, May 4-13. An extensive Biggest Week website provides lots of information about planned events. Many events require pre-registration.
The Biggest Week is supported by the Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center, Lake Erie Shores and Islands (Ottawa County and Erie County Visitors' Bureau), and Destination Toledo (Lucas County Visitors' Bureau). The Black Swamp Bird Observatory is a member of TMACOG.
