Meet TMACOG’s Newest Transportation Planner
Eric Kellstadt joined TMACOG in August in a new position of Transportation Planner III. Eric brings to TMACOG extensive experience in both public and private sectors. His past work experience has included private development for engineering firms, and regional and state planning for the Missouri Department of Transportation. His work at MoDOT mirrored many areas addressed by TMACOG including the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
In May, 2011, an EF 5 tornado struck Joplin and destroyed nearly one-third of the city. With 161 deaths and the destruction of nearly 8,000 homes, six schools, two fire stations, and one regional hospital, Eric’s skills were valuable in the recovery planning for the city. Here, he was the lead planner for several projects, including a new Comprehensive Plan that established rezoning and rebuilding standards in the devastated area.
In his work at TMACOG, Eric is currently completing the Congestion Management Process Report, will be the staff support for the Pedestrian & Bikeways Committee, and will work with Diane Reamer-Evans to complete a land use inventory that TMACOG will compile over the next year. Eric is pleased to be pursuing his career in public sector transportation planning and is looking forward assisting the Toledo area with its transportation planning needs.
