Review and Forecast of Area Transportation Construction

The past 12 months have been a significant construction period for highway projects in northwest Ohio and southwest Michigan. Long-term projects were successfully finished including “Fort to Port” - the US 24 route to Fort Wayne, the Hallet Road grade separation in Fulton County, and relocation of SR 18 in southern Wood County including a roundabout to improve traffic flow. In addition, the year saw a record resurfacing road program in northwest Ohio. The unusually dry summer helped construction crews complete several projects ahead of schedule.

Many transportation projects for 2013 are currently being evaluated, budgeted, and scheduled. Those that will have a significant impact on regional travel include:

US 23 reconstruction in Michigan – Sterns to US 223.....................
$14.1 million
Secor Road resurfacing – Central to Monroe.................................
5.7 million
Anthony Wayne Bridge – re-decking and repair..............................
74.5 million
I-280 pavement rehabilitation – Navarre to Lemoyne......................
7.4 million
Conant/Reynolds resurfacing – Anthony Wayne to Ohio Turnpike.....
2.6 million

Mark your calendar for the Transportation Summit, March 22 and plan to attend to learn more about upcoming projects. As construction details are finalized, updated maps will be posted under the Highway Projects Map section at www.tmacog.org/tran_body.htm.
