Specialized Transportation – Funds Available
Applications for funding for vehicles and related equipment serving the region’s elderly and people with disabilities are due by Friday, February 1. Typically, agencies that are successful in applying for Specialized Transportation Program funds purchase a handicapped-accessible van.
The Specialized Transportation Program is administered by the ODOT Office of Transit. Agencies eligible to apply for funding are: Ohio non-profit agencies, Ohio Coordination Program, or Ohio government entities certifying that there are no other non-profit agencies available in the area to provide similar transportation services. In a change from previous years, an initial letter of intent is no longer required before the complete application can be submitted.
All projects submitted for funding must be derived from a Locally Developed Coordinated Public Transit Human Services Transportation Plan. View or download a copy of the Toledo urbanized area plan (2008) and the draft of the plan update here.
The application packet, instructions, and additional information about the Specialized Transportation Program can be found on the ODOT website on their transit pages here. TMACOG is available for help with the application process. For any questions, contact Transportation Project Manager David Gedeon at 419.241.9155 ext. 125.
