Local Cyclist Honored
Pat Squire, long-time member of TMACOG and lifetime cyclist, has been honored with the Horace M. Huffman Award from the Ohio Bicycle Federation. The presentation to Ms. Squire was part of the March 22 Transportation Summit. The City of Bowling Green was also recognized by the federation with the Cyclist Friendly Community Award.
Pat Squire uses a bicycle for her everyday transportation in all sorts of weather. The tiny woman with the day-glo bike gear is a familiar sight on Toledo streets and local bike paths. Ms. Squire has been a member of TMACOG’s Pedestrian & Bikeways Committee for many years, and is also a board member of Maumee Valley Adventurers, a cycling and travel club.
The Horace M. Huffman Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Ohio Bicycle Federation. It is named for the former CEO of Huffy Corporation based in Dayton. Huffman awards have been presented to individuals who have done much for Ohio cycling and to organizations such as the Miami Valley Regional Transit Authority and TARTA for installing bike racks on all their buses.
