Oregon Bike Trail Makes Connections
A newly paved connector has completed the 8-mile Oregon Parks Bike Trail which links Pearson Park and Maumee Bay State Park. The new Stadium section completes the long cycling and leisure trail by linking the 4.9 miles of trails at Maumee Bay State Park with the 3.3 miles of trails at Pearson Park.
Funding for the development of the Oregon Parks trail was managed through the Transportation Improvement Program (the TIP) administered by TMACOG. Phase One of the trail started more than a decade ago in 2002. Finishing the Stadium section was the fifth phase of funding for the trail. Rodney Shultz, Deputy City Engineer in Oregon worked closely with TMACOG to secure state and federal funding and keep the project on track.
The portion of the Oregon Parks Bike Trail that goes through the administrative and athletic complex has been dedicated to former Oregon Mayor Leonard Wasserman. Mr. Wasserman participates in Bike to Work Day each year.
Officials from the City of Oregon, Maumee Bay State Park and Metroparks of the Toledo Area celebrate the grand opening of the Oregon Parks Bike Trail.
