GIS Day Awards
A day devoted to the exploration of Geographical Information Systems brought professional map makers, planners, and engineers together with high school and college students. The day’s events were held in the Grand Lobby of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza and included presentations from a wide range of professionals, student presentations, and exhibits from employers and equipment suppliers.
The regional GIS Day event is coordinated by the City of Toledo, TMACOG, ODOT District Two, Penta Career Center, Maumee Valley Planning Organization (MVPO), Northwestern Water and Sewer District, and the Fulton County GIS Department.
Toledo Mayor D. Michael Collins congratulates Xi Li, a University of Toledo student. She received the top award in the use of technology, and third overall in the college division for her GIS, “Toledo City Tree Canopy Extraction with LiDAR Imagery.” Her display was also voted People’s Choice.
