Two Days of Train Day Toledo, May 2 & 3
Join one of the country’s largest celebrations of trains and train travel on Saturday, May 3. And you are invited to a preview party on Friday evening, May 2.
National Train Day Toledo is a free, family-friendly event. Attractions are trackside at the Toledo Amtrak station and indoors on the main level of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza.
Train Day begins at 9:30 a.m. with public remarks from elected officials and railroad executives. Then visit the model train layouts in the Grand Lobby, enjoy food, games, and kids’ rides trackside at the Amtrak station. Cannonball Paul, the crooning conductor, provides old fashioned entertainment. Tour passenger rail cars and see freight locomotives including the NS New York Central “Heritage” locomotive.
There is no admission cost for Train Day and parking is free. There will be a shuttle running from the Owens-Corning parking lot.
The Northwest Ohio Passenger Rail Association (NOPRA) and the statewide advocacy group All Aboard Ohio are hosting Friday Night by the Tracks on Friday, May 2, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tickets are $30/person or $50/couple and benefit NOPRA and All Aboard Ohio. The party includes live music and food, and special guided tours of the train cars and locomotives. To register, click here or contact Joe Bajas at the Toledo-Lucas County
