James Corless, Director, Transportation for America (T4A).

After years of short term fixes, there is a new long term federal transportation bill: Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Transportation planners and local governments need to understand how the bill will change funding and affect planning for regional priorities. We’ll hear from an expert at the 2016 Transportation Summit.

The keynote speaker is the morning presentation at the Summit. James Corless, the director of Transportation for America (T4A), will unpack the legislation and describe its likely effect on funding solutions for metro regions, individual states, and the U.S. as a whole.

Corless’s background includes time as a senior planner for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in the San Francisco Bay Area. In that position he managed the agency’s efforts to partner with the private sector and local governments to promote jobs, retail, and residential construction along public transportation corridors. Corless helped author several pieces of groundbreaking state legislation in California that have helped encourage coordination of transportation, growth and economic development.

The complete Summit agenda includes luncheon, two valuable panels, and networking opportunities. We’ll have a review of major transportation projects in progress now and beginning in the next few years in Ohio and Michigan. Another panel discussion will show how active transportation initiatives are making and transforming communities in our region.

Government officials, public and private sector transportation professionals, engineers, planners, and all transportation stakeholders are invited to attend. For more information, contact Christine Connell, 419.241.9155, ext. 119.

Special thanks to presenting partners DGL Consulting Engineers, the Mannik and Smith Group, Tetra Tech, and TAGNO.
