Grand Opening of Middlegrounds Metropark
Middlegrounds Metropark in downtown Toledo, adjacent to the
Anthony Wayne Bridge.
"Meet the Middlegrounds", the grand opening of downtown Toledo’s first Metropark, will be Saturday, September 17 with family activities from noon to 5 p.m. From 5 p.m. to midnight, "Rock the Middlegrounds" will feature live music, with food, beer and wine available for purchase. Admission to the park is free all day.
Middlegrounds Metropark, 111 Ottawa Street, starts at the Anthony Wayne bridge and stretches 1.5 miles upriver, providing sweeping views of the Maumee, downtown skyline and opposite shore. To get to the park, use the bridge at the foot of Washington Street, where Owens Corning headquarters is located. Then turn right onto Ottawa Street and follow it to the park entrance, just past the Anthony Wayne Bridge.
Starting Sunday, September 18, Middlegrounds will be open daily, 7 a.m. until dark, like all of the other Metroparks.
The Rotary Roundhouse, an open shelter that will be available for rent, sits
in the middle of the park. It was a donation from the Rotary Club of Toledo
on the occasion of the club’s centennial in 2012. The building also has restrooms.
