Surface Transportation Block
Grant Projects Scored
The Transportation Improvement Program (the TIP) and the Transportation Council have approved the scoring and ranking of this year’s round of Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBGP) applications.
The Scoring and Ranking Subcommittee of the TIP Committee met on July 21 to review the STBGP projects. In total, 33 projects were submitted requesting over $41M in STP funds. However, only $11.9 million is available for local allocation. The committee applied the scoring protocol to all projects and ranked them based on final scores. In the chart below, the difference between total cost and STP funds shows the local contribution to the cost of the project. The chart shows the projects that were awarded funding in the upcoming TIP (FY 2018-2021). These projects will be programmed for construction in fiscal years 2021 and 2022.
The two largest projects in the schedule are major reconstructions that include “road diets” of major roadways. On the Anthony Wayne Trail in Lucas County and on Oregon Road in Wood County, lanes will be reduced and a sidepath added, separate from the roadway. Two million dollars was allocated for small projects. These are resurfacing projects with some lane adjustments. The grants will fund projects in the cities of Sylvania, Toledo, and Perrysburg, and Lucas County.
