The TMACOG Transportation Improvement Program (the TIP) committee has evaluated applications and made recommendations for funding for a new round of transportation projects through the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) program.
In July, the TIP committee scored and ranked 17 applications to allocate this round’s budget of $13 million. The applications are posted under “2017 CMAQ Applications” on the TIP webpage. Projects that are eligible must reduce road congestion or improve air quality. Projects that score well include intersection improvements (including roundabouts), bicycle projects, and bus replacements. CMAQ funds do not support increasing road capacity or basic repaving projects.
The TIP committee will submit their recommendations to the TMACOG Transportation Council at the regular meeting of the council, Wednesday, August 2. If the plan is accepted, the Council will then submit it to the Ohio State Urban CMAQ Committee (OSUCC). Final news about funding will be announced by the state of Ohio in December, 2017.
