You're Invited to Celebrate
It seems like just yesterday that Judge Andy Devine gaveled to order the first meeting of the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments in the offices of the City of Oregon. But it was 1968.
On Thursday, April 26, 2018 TMACOG will host an open house with historical displays, hospitality, and a short program celebrating 50 years of regional achievements. Retired Judge Devine plans to attend. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the program begins at 4:30 p.m. “This is an opportunity for us to thank our members for 50 years of support,” said TMACOG President Tim W. Brown. “TMACOG members are a remarkable community of people working together in a non-partisan environment for progress and the common good.”
Brown is only the fifth permanent executive in TMACOG’s history. There have been 31 chairs serving one or two years of service. The current chair is Doris I. Herringshaw, Ed.D., Wood County commissioner. She said, “The vision of my predecessors has provided a great collaborative future for the region. TMACOG is an organization the region can count on to address issues that affect the future of the area.”
Join fellow members and current leadership and staff to celebrate 50 years of regional cooperation and see what a difference TMACOG has made in our region. RSVP by April 16 to Gilda Mitchell, director of membership and outreach: 419.241.9155 ext. 1105.
Throughout the year, TMACOG staff is sharing historic news and photos on social media. Follow Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments on Facebook and Twitter. You might see photos of elected officials from the 1970’s sporting bell bottom plaid pants and interesting facial hair.
