Transportation Funding Announced

Applications for the current round of all three TMACOG-managed funds have been evaluated, ranked, and approved by the TMACOG Board of Trustees. These projects are scheduled to begin construction in 2024 and 2025. Multiple funds - including local contributions - will be assembled to complete each of these projects.

A large project to upgrade the interchange of US 23 and Monroe Street at the gateway to the City of Sylvania ranks high on each of the programs. Federal funding for that $28 million project is split between two funds: $6 million in Surface Transportation Block Grant for roadway construction; and $2.9 million in Congestion Mitigation Air Quality funds because the improved interchange will reduce traffic backups.
