Federal Economic Stimulus Proposal and Infrastructure Projects:
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

As the regional convener for transportation and environmental planning in northwest Ohio, and also in our role as an administrator of federal funding for transportation projects, TMACOG is closely monitoring the federal government’s plans to stimulate the U.S. economy by providing supplemental funding opportunities for infrastructure projects.

To keep our membership informed with the latest information, TMACOG will be continually updating this page to provide the links to developing available program information.

Transportation Programs

Regional Transportation Projects

TMACOG accepted, reviewed, ranked and approved applications for transportation projects. The ranked list is posted here.

Regional Environmental Projects

See the link for a list of water infrastructure projects from the TMACOG region that may qualify for economic stimulus funding. Projects included here are principally ones that would be able to proceed in 2009-2010. There are also some longer-term, aspirational projects. Jurisdictions are encouraged to provide planned sewerage and water resource projects to Kurt Erichsen at TMACOG at kurt@tmacog.org

Program Guidance from FHWA
The Federal Highway Administration has created a website with the latest information on the stimulus program including question and answers on using the funds for transportation projects. The website is http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/economicrecovery/index.htm

Contained within that website are the following resources:

• To assist all state and local agencies in this preparation for the economic stimulus legislation, the FHWA has established an economic recovery web page which includes a series of key questions and answers (Q&As). http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/economicrecovery/qandas.htm
• The FHWA has also developed and posted a list of actions that can be taken to expedite the economic recovery delivery.  The FHWA encourages potential recipients of highway-related economic recovery funding to review and prepare for those items that are applicable. http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/economicrecovery/expedite.htm

Governor Strickland of Ohio has instituted an effort to help coordinate projects within the state.
