Public Input

To reflect and respond to our region's needs, the On the Move Plan must seek community input. Strategies include:

  • A broad based task force representing a variety of stakeholders;
  • Surveys available for interested citizens to complete;
  • Direct mailings to local governments and other major stakeholders, and
  • Public meetings

    Summer 2005: Where will Future Development Happen?

In June-August 2005, the On the Move Task Force and staff asked the question, "where will people live and work by the year 2035?" Good projections of future patterns of development are essential to the plan. Staff prepared draft population and employment forecasts, and used public input to finalize the maps and data. Public input came from:

  • Display 1 and Survey 1 on our website and in public libraries throughout the region
  • Direct mailings to local governments.
  • Public meetings cosponsored by economic development organizations

Fall 2005: Transportation Needs and Opportunities

In September-December 2005, the task force asked, "what are our region's transportation needs and opportunities, now and into the future? This is part of assessing our transportation system. Public needs comments are used -- along with data and information about our transportation systems -- to determine what issues the On the Move Plan must address. Public input on needs/opportunities comes from:

  • Display 2 and Survey 2 on the Web and in public libraries
  • Direct mailings to local governments and other major stakeholders
  • The TMACOG Transportation Summit: click here for results
  • Public meetings around the region, mostly at public libraries.
