Purpose:
To increase and improve public transit and passenger rail transportation serving the region. The goal is a fully multi-modal, interconnected transportation system.
Activities: In 2011, the committee (formerly the Passenger Rail Committee) was expanded to add public transit to its purview. The committee holds events each year to educate our leaders and the public about the importance of these transportation modes. It partners with TMACOG staff to analyze transportation needs and identify options that will improve personal mobility and strengthen economic health. The committee supports efforts to bring modern higher speed intercity rail service to our region, through such efforts as the Ohio Hub and the Midwestern Regional Rail System ("Chicago Hub"). It works to implement the priorities of the "On the Move" regional transportation plan, including a more regional public transit system.
