Carpooling

Carpooling is one of the most flexible commute alternatives around. You can tailor it to fit your needs. In a carpool you can share the ride with co-workers or people who live in your neighborhood; carpool once a week or everyday--as often as your schedule permits; share the ride round-trip or just one way. However, finding someone to share the commute with on your own can be difficult. By registering with Share A Ride, we can provide a list of people that share your commute route and work hours. Your FREE matchlist will include the names and phone numbers of commuters who have signed up with Share A Ride and want to carpool so you don’t have to hesitate to call them. Addresses are kept confidential and do not appear on matchlists.

By carpooling you can save hundreds of dollars a year on gas, car repairs and insurance. Use this easy formula to estimate how much it costs you to drive to and from work or register now.

Why Share
the Ride?

1. Save money. Cost conscious commuters travel to and from work in vans or carpools, paying a fraction of the gas, oil, maintenance and parking fees paid by drive-alone commuters.

2. Provide a ride for someone who does not have any other way to get to a job that is located off the public bus route.

3. Save time. The fewer single occupant vehicles on the road, the smoother traffic will flow and the less likely you will be to get caught in heavy traffic.

4. Ease your mind. Dealing with less traffic congestion and sharing the driving can reduce stress. With someone else doing the driving, you can spend your commute time napping, working or visiting and will arrive at work relaxed and ready for work

5. Cut down on pollution. Sharing the ride can help us all breathe a little easier.

6. A carpool can be an emergency resource -- when bad weather strikes or your car decides it needs the day off.
