Hi, I'm Stephanie.
I can answer all of your commuting questions. Just send an e-mail message to commuterservices@tmacog.org or give me a call at 1-800-241-1919

I am not able to drive at all; can I still be in a carpool?

Yes, you can. Often we have people that are interested in the savings offered with carpooling but rely on their car and need to drive every day. You would just work out an agreement to split the cost of gas and parking.

·

If I join/form a carpool, do I have to carpool every day?

No, you decide how often and what days work for you and the others in your group. The amount of money you will save will depend on the number of days you carpool. The more days you share the trip - the more money you will save.

·I don't like driving in winter weather. Can carpooling help me?

Yes, Share A Ride can give you a list of people living near you that you can contact to share the trip to and from work. There is safety in numbers.

·I wouldn't mind taking the bus to work occasionally but don't know which bus to take. Can Share A Ride help me?

Yes. Share A Ride partners with TARTA to help people get where they need to go. We would be happy to send you information about bus routes, bus schedules, and park & ride locations. ·

I heard that there is some way that my boss can help me save money on the price of a bus pass.

The Commuter Choice program lets you purchase bus passes or vanpool vouchers through your employer using pre-tax dollars, saving you and your employer money at the end of the year when filing income taxes. The benefit is available only through participating employers. If you are a state or federal employee, you are already eligible. We have information that we can provide to employers describing the program and the benefits of offering it to their employees.

I like the idea of carpooling, but what if I get a call from the daycare saying my child is sick?

If you are called away for an emergency and you were not the driver on that day, the Guaranteed Ride Home program will reimburse you (up to four times per year) for the cost of taking the bus or a taxi to get home.
