PREVIOUS WORK ON THE DRAFT PLAN

April 2007: On Wednesday, April 4, 2007, the TMACOG Transportation Council voted to approve the draft plan for final public comment and submission to the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration for their approval. (Federal/state approval is needed by June 30, 2007).

March 2007: The On the Move task force completed a draft list of projects, a draft list of initiatives, draft regional policies, and a projects map for the 2007-2035 Transportation Plan for the Toledo metro area (Lucas and Wood counties, Ohio; southern Monroe County, Michigan). They also completed a map of pavement reconstruction projects for the plan ("catch up projects" to bring major road pavements up to an acceptable level).

A complete draft plan handout (including cover page, introduction, lists and maps) was posted on the website for public comment. In addition,

  • Six public meetings (click to see schedule, page 2 of flier) were held March 2-12 around the region. Click here to view meeting presentation.
  • Draft plans and comment sheets were available at most public libraries, late February through mid-March.
  • A comment form was available on the TMACOG website.

Environmental review: To see how the proposed projects may impact the natural and human environment, staff compared project locations to maps of environmental resources (wetlands, forest areas, farmland, 100 year flood plains, the Oak Openingsecological region, parks and nature preserves, and stream corridors. Projects were also been mapped to show their proximity to environmental justice target areas (low income and minority neighborhoods) and historic sites. In addition, staff contacted environmental agencies to ask for their comments (see comment form and initial responses received (see plan report above, Appendix E, for additional comments). Environmental review results were shared with the Task Force and included in the final plan document.
