Join planners, developers, engineers, and community leaders for a day’s exploration of best practices in
Morning session: Implementing Local Priorities
We will look at the Swan Creek watershed’s priorities for development and conservation followed by
a panel discussion with local developers and planning officials. You will gain an understanding of the
concerns of elected officials and the challenges faced by planning agencies and developers.
Afternoon session: Guided Design
We will break into small groups and work out real-world designs for conservation development and
compact development. Each team will include developers, planners/engineers, and community leaders.
You will work with maps, available data, zoning regulations, and site conditions. You’ll aim to create a
financially viable project.
The cost of the workshop is $25.00. A working lunch is included in the day’s program. Class size is limited.
