Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments

Bike and Pedestrian Planning

Purpose: The Pedestrian & Bikeways Committee is responsible for the implementation of that portion of the transportation program applicable to bicycling and pedestrians; coordinates and promotes bicycle and pedestrian facility plans, safety programs and regulations in the Toledo Metropolitan Area.

Activities: Activities of the Committee include developing an inventory of both pedestrian and bicycle facilities in the region, preparing the pedestrian and bike components of the Regional Transportation Plan, and working with area stakeholders towards developing needed programs and projects. The Committee promotes alternative forms of transportation through the annual events of Bike Month and our 2006 Bike Day promotion ( 2004 events were promoted as 7 Days Different Ways, prior to 2005, this was known as BBOPPR Week -- "Bike, Bus Or (car) Pool, Pedestrian, and Rail"). the Committee also publishes maps and information (see RESOURCES below)

Meetings of the Committe are open to the public, and new members are welcome. Contact TMACOG staff at 419-241-9155 or click here to e-mail questions or comments.
